The West Midlands Victims’ Commissioner, Nicky Brennan, said: “The independent watchdogs are right to highlight that rape victims are, too often, failed by the criminal justice system.
“For someone to be subjected to that kind of abuse and not be properly supported, despite bravely stepping forward to report a crime, will never be ok.
“That’s why the PCC and I promise to work closely with West Midlands Police and partners to ensure we get this right in our region.
“The way we look after those who need our help most is how we are judged by the people of the West Midlands, and rightly so.”
