| We will be using Section 60 powers in the Washwood Heath are of Birmingham this evening and overnight following a series of violent incidents in recent days. It comes as we investigate a series of disorders, including men fighting with weapons in Washwood Heath Road yesterday evening. The powers will be in place in the area on the map, from 6pm (Tuesday) until 4am tomorrow morning (Wednesday). Section 60 powers allow us to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds. As always, our main focus is on keeping everyone safe. |

| Hodge Hill NHT were on duty on the evening. They conducted 2x stop searches which was unrelated to the disorders that had taken place. However, they did update the log to highlight that they had attended several disorders throughout the evening. Again, these were unrelated to the previous disorders: two of these were within the target area, the other just outside. On one occasion there were reports of a large groups of girls involved, but no trace on police arrival (Burney Lane). This matter has been linked to a school-based assault and, as such, has been referred to the SIPO’s for review and intervention. EM log 4494-080425: disorder in progress at Burney Lane, no one present on police arrival. EM log 4620-080425: group of males causing ASB and issues to residents at Kellington Close, no parties present. On arrival, area search conducted, no trace. PR log 5153-080425: ASB regarding quad bikes on Ermington Crescent, no bikes present on arrival. To summarise the only activity recorded on the log was from NHT, there was no activity on the log post 2300hrs until the conclusion of the powers. |
