PCC Simon Foster attended the national annual conference of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners and National Police Chiefs Council.
The PCC is the APCC national lead for counter terrorism and he Chairs the National Counter Terrorism Strategic Board and has done for more than four years.

He was part of a plenary panel discussing the lessons for Prevent, following the brutal and abhorrent events in Southport in July 2024, as part of the national Counter Terrorism Strategy.
The PCC spoke about the key role PCC’s can play in convening local partners, holding counter terrorism policing to account and commissioning essential preventive and intervention services.
The PCC is supportive of additional investment in prevention – because the prevention of terrorism is better than having to deal with its consequences- and in particular implementation of a comprehensive violence prevention and safeguarding strategy, including the Big Front Door, as recommended by Lord Anderson in his Lessons for Prevent published in July 2025.
