Reason for Authority (Brief Summary for Publication)
Using Section 60 powers in Birmingham
We will continue to use Section 60 powers in parts of Washwood Heath and Ward End this evening and overnight.
It follows recent serious incidents we’re investigating, including a firearms discharge in Ward End Park Road.
These powers allow us to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds and will be in place from 6pm today (Friday) until 4am tomorrow (Saturday).
As always, our main focus is on keeping everyone safe.
