Young people across the West Midlands are now able to vote for the Youth Commissioners who will represent their area.
Polls opened this morning for youngsters to have their say and help shape who will represent them in holding the police to account.
The Youth Commissioners’ role will be to advise the Police and Crime Commissioner on issues affecting children and teenagers. Voting is all online, and can be done by clicking here.
A total of 16 Youth Commissioners will be elected across the region, representing:
- Birmingham
- Coventry
- Dudley
- Sandwell
- Solihull
- Walsall
- Wolverhampton
Any young person aged 13-18, living in the West Midlands, will be able to cast two votes, one for each of their two preferred candidates in their area.
West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster said: “Voting is now open for my next intake of Youth Commissioners, allowing our young people to have their say on who represents them.
“The Youth Commissioners play a crucial role in helping me keep young people safe. They will support me, by keeping me informed about the concerns and views of their generation.
“I want to wish all applicants the best of luck with their campaigns, and I look forward to welcoming our successful candidates”.
Voting will close on November 19th.
