The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster, has thanked his Victims’ Commissioner, Nicky Brennan, for her two years of service after she announced she will step down from her role with the PCC.
Simon Foster’s comments come after Nicky Brennan confirmed she will leave her post in his office as a consequence of her having been offered a new role in Birmingham City Council’s new look Cabinet.
The Victims’ Commissioner has been responsible for acting as an advocate for victims and overseeing victims’ services in our region.
She was the first Victims’ Commissioner to be appointed by a PCC in the country.
The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster, said: “I place on record my thanks to Nicky Brennan for her service since May 2021.
“She has always cared passionately about people affected by crime, acting as an advocate for the rights and welfare of victims throughout the criminal justice system.
“Nicky’s dedication and enthusiasm has stood out as she spearheaded campaigns that called out domestic and online abuse, violence against women and fraud.
“Nicky has my best wishes for her new role in Birmingham City Council’s Cabinet.”
The Victims’ Commissioner, who will leave her post at the end of May, added: “Being the first Victims Commissioner for the West Midlands has been one the greatest honours of my life.
“I thank you for your support, guidance and kindness for the last two years.
“We have achieved many successes for the residents of the West Midlands, including increasing the support for domestic abuse victims and campaigning to put a stop to violence against women and girls.”
