David Jamieson, Iman Abou Atta, Fiyaz Mughal and Judy Foster
West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson met the directors of Faith Matters to discuss Islamophobic attacks.
Mr Jamieson and his assistant, Councillor Judy Foster met Faith Matters director, Fiyaz Mughal and deputy director, Iman Abou Atta.
Together, they discussed the work of Faith Matters, which is a not-for-profit organisation that works to reduce hate crime and extremism and improve inter-faith relations, and also what the police can do to identify and tackle anti-Muslim hate crime.
West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said: “It was a pleasure to meet Fiyaz and Iman and hear about the sterling work of Faith Matters.
“West Midlands Police has a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime and I will do all I can to stamp out fear, hatred and abuse.
“If you are a victim of, or see any evidence of hate crime please report it. It is only by reporting the crime that we can tackle it.”
To report a hate crime, call 999 in an emergency; 101 if it is not an emergency; complete the True Vision online reporting form at www.report-it.org.uk; or visit one of the more than 200 third party hate crime reporting centres in the West Midlands.
