Ahead of the demonstrations expected to take place in Dudley on Saturday 7 February, Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson, local political leaders on Dudley Council and community leaders have made the following statement and are asking members of the community to add their names to the message also.
“We are all proud that Dudley is a diverse and vibrant borough, in which people from different backgrounds and cultures get on and work together.
“In the West Midlands we respect the values of each other and the rights that we all have to worship safely in whichever way we chose.
“We will protect the right to peacefully protest and want everybody who visits Dudley and the West Midlands to respect local people and their right live in harmony.
“Violence is never acceptable, especially when perpetrated towards Police Officers who are trying to keep us all safe from harm.
“Above all else we call for peace, calm and respect on Saturday 7 February in Dudley.”
